Mohammed Hafez Ismail
Mohammed Hafez Ismail (b. 1919 - d. January 1, 1997) was an Egyptian diplomat and served as Adviser on National Security to President Anwar Sadat in 1971-1974.
Served as Egyptian Ambassador to Great Britain, France and Italy. In September 1971 was appointed by President Sadat to the newly created position of National Security Adviser in order to be able to negotiate with the US and Israeli governments while bypassing the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 1974, as Sadat created personal confidence with Henry Kissinger, Ismail's activity became obsolete and he was appointed Ambassador to the Soviet Union.
